Shotover

Shotover's mixture of broadleaf woodland, glades and heath-like clearings supports diverse birdlife. Woodpeckers, Nuthatch and warblers are common in season, while the rides hold mixed finch and tit flocks in winter. Raptors hunt the slopes and open areas, with Buzzard, Red Kite and occasionally Sparrowhawk frequently seen.

Its varied landscape ensures that different trails produce different species assemblages.
